GIS Services Available Through NODIS

1. Research/Technical Assistance: NODIS provides services to public and private agencies for use in solving GIS application issues/problems.
  • Recent examples include:
    • Trained engineering consulting firm employees and aid in the development of an environmental dataase for building site location analysis.
    • Developed the common data base for redistricting the state of Ohio. This was a cooperative project with Ohio University.
    • Provided media and others with congressional maps. Provide boards of elections with address look-up guides.
    • Developed a GIS database, including land use, soils, street network, and demographic data, for the Mill Creek Watershed Planning Project of the Northeast Ohio Regional Sewer District.
    • Developed a parcel-based GIS for the St. Clair/Superior Neighborhood Association in Cleveland to assist the Association in neighborhood development and crime analysis and monitoring.
    • Developed a parcel-based GIS for the City of Barberton and Aurora to assist these cities in community development and land use planning.
    • Developed a parcel-based GIS for the Flats Oxbow Development Association in Cleveland to assist the Association in economic development and land use planning.
    • Developed a parcel-based GIS for the St Vincent Quadrangle Development Association in Cleveland to assist the Association in economic development and land use planning.
    • Used GIS technology to assist Cuyahoga Community College in analyzing its service market.
2. Project Management: NODIS provided project facilitation and management for a consortium of Cleveland area public and private agencies interested in better sharing and managing geographic information through the creation of a GIS network consortium. The consortium, the "Greater Cleveland Geographic Information Network" or GC-GIN, undertook a needs assessment, developed a technical and organizational implementation strategy, and is currently implementing that strategy.
